Dr. Rie Schur is a Naturopathic doctor and resident who specializes in craniosacral therapy, biofeedback, homeopathy, botanical medicine, and hydrotherapy. She received a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA, where she studied core medical subjects as well as botanical and physical medicine and the philosophies of natural hygiene and vitalism. Besides her medical degree, she also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Italian from Boston University and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching/Education from Seattle University.

Throughout her life, Rie had always been interested in nutritional medicine, having read the works of leading experts in the field. Her strong belief in optimal health through plant-based food is her passion. For years she thought about returning to school to pursue a degree in medicine, but it wasn’t until she read The Pleasure Trap by Dr. Alan Goldhamer and Dr. Douglas Lisle that she made the decision to go back to school to follow her dream.

After graduating from Bastyr University, she was selected to be a resident at TrueNorth Health Center, which had inspired her desire to become a naturopathic doctor. Her practice encompasses a variety of modalities.  Craniosacral therapy uses gentle touch to release tensions in the body to improve health and increase the parasympathetic response. Visceral manipulation is another light-touch physical medicine modality which encourages healthy mobility and tone to the organs of the body. Homeopathy and hydrotherapy are two naturopathic modalities which stimulate the body’s own ability to heal to bring about better health and vitality.

When she is not practicing medicine, Rie is devoted to animal rescue, particularly cats. Her dream to is take a “working vacation” to one of the many animal sanctuaries around the world and help care for elephants, big cats, or wolves. In the meantime, she is happiest cuddling her tabby, Crais.
