Training for Doctors

Training Interns

TrueNorth Health Center is recognized by the International Association of Hygienic Physicians (IAHP) as one of the few physician training facilities in the world for doctors of medicine, osteopathy, chiropractic, and naturopathy to gain experience and certification in fasting supervision. TrueNorth Health Center provides an environment that allows the body to heal itself through nutrition, sleep, exercise, and water-only fasting. A special emphasis is placed on the use of history, physical examination, and non-invasive diagnostic tools, including blood and urine evaluations, EKG, etc., in evaluating fasting patients.

TrueNorth Health Center offers three different programs for doctors to gain experience:

The programs are an intense, hands-on experience for doctors who are serious about learning how to safely and effectively apply nutritional medicine, including fasting, in an integrative medical setting.

Fasting Certification for Doctors

TrueNorth Health Center welcomes healthcare providers who have completed an MD, DO, DC, ND, PA, or NP degree to apply for a six-month Fasting Supervision Program. After meeting all requirements of the program, doctors will receive a Fasting Certification from the IAHP. The first three months of the certification must be on-site at TrueNorth Health Center. During this time, interns will receive orientation and hands-on training. Practitioners may need more than three months to complete certification requirements and may continue their training at their private practice or stay at TrueNorth for up to six months or until all criteria for certification are met. Interns participate in all aspects of the operation of the facility, including patient education, monitoring, and night coverage. Interns also participate in staff and doctor training meetings.

Preference is given to doctors who have previously participated in a program with us, have interviewed on-site, or have special interest in clinical research.
